*1964 C-133 Crash

This brief eye witness account of the crash of a C-133 at Goose comes from Chris Charland, U.S.AF. Public Affairs Officer.
"Just a quick note to say thank you ever so much for the Melville Air ForceStation site. I was an 'Air Force Brat' at Goose from June 1964 to June 1967. I have such wonderful memories living there. The only truly sad occasion happened on the 7th of November 1964, when a Douglas C-133 Cargomaster crashed and blew up about 500 feet in front of me. I was on the perimeter road by the P.O.L tank farm when it crashed killing seven crew members. The Dover-based aircraft was enroute to Sondestrom with a full load of provisions including tons of meat. Icing caused the aircraft to stall and literally fall out of the sky." Thank you for this story Chris!

Richard Sievert sent this along: "Came from Keesler AFB Radar Mtce School to Goose and returned to Eglin AFB, FLA to the Air Proving Ground Command and worked ECM the rest of my tour.  Spent part of the remainder at Eglin AFB and the rest at a remote site, Site 37 at Robbins AFB GA."
